| Circles of Support
Goals
The Goal of Circles of Support is to empower homeless families and individuals to acquire the skills necessary for finding long term employment, housing, and improving their overall quality of life.
Genesis Home matches formerly homeless families and individuals with Support Circles (local congregations and civic organizations) to provide support and assistance for a period of 12 months.
Support Circles work with families and individuals on employment, educational, parenting, and financial goals with the ultimate goal of improving the housing stability of low-income households.
Support Circle Roles
- Recruit a team of at least four and not more than ten people to serve as a Circle of Support for a homeless household
- Attend an information session and a training session prior to being paired with a household
- Meet with the household to offer support, mentoring, and guidance
- Assist households in developing and achieving long-term realistic housing, career, financial management and community participation goals
- Refrain from providing any direct financial support to your household
- Commit to a household for a period of 12 months
Participating Household Roles
- In consultation with their agency representative, identify specific needs and goals that the Circle of Support could help fulfill or accomplish
- Communicate needs and goals to the Circle of Support in the initial meeting with the Circle's members
- Meet with members of the partnered Circle of Support for support, encouragement, mentoring, etc.
- Direct any requests for financial assistance to their agency representative
- May not be actively abusing controlled substance
